VRI FACILITIES
VRI owns and operates two high-security facilities
located in Flagtown and Roxbury, New
Jersey. These are two of the largest
offsite data protection facilities in the world.
Originally built by AT&T Long Lines, both buildings were
designed and built specifically for disaster recovery
purposes. Each played an essential role in assuring
that their network remained up and running in the event
of any catastrophic incident, including a nuclear attack.
Purchased in 1980, the Flagtown facility is
the original VRI building. The Roxbury facility followed
in 1995. Built into the top of a mountain, more than
1100 feet above sea-level, this building was VRI’s
second “one-of-a-kind” facility.
Both buildings feature:
- Fully qualified Operations Personnel on-site at
all times: 24 x 365
- Gated entrances leading to the buildings
- Surveillance cameras at all access points and
key areas within the buildings
- Iris recognition systems at outside entrances
- Scrambled keypad access at multiple points throughout
the buildings
- Fully redundant systems with backup generators
- Environmental controls to assure proper temperature
and humidity
Our Roxbury facility has more than 125,000 square feet of tape
storage space. It is comprised
of 2 levels, 30 and 50 feet below ground. Due to this construction, this
facility offers a level of physical security virtually
unmatched in our industry.
Our Flagtown facility features both above
and below ground space. Located in rural central New
Jersey, the exterior of the exposed building is designed
to resemble a barn that blends into the rural
surroundings. VRI’s administrative offices are
housed in this above ground portion.
VRI is the owner and sole occupant of each building and surrounding property.
There are no signs or other identification on either building.
