Since 1980, the management and protection
of critical corporate data has been VRI’s only business. We protect millions of the most critical computer tapes in the world in our unique high-security buildings. We successfully complete tens of thousands of tape transactions every day.
Our customers trust us to ensure that their vital records are secure, well-managed and always in a position to be retrieved at a moment’s notice - whether for a Disaster Recovery scenario or a Compliance Request, tapes can be promptly delivered cross-town or cross-country.
When the business was founded, we developed a set of best practices that continue to serve our customers well even today, almost 30 years later.
Undeniably, there have been changes to our business:
The tapes themselves have gone through dramatic changes. A single high density cartridge can hold the same amount of data as several hundred round reels.
Technology has changed the way we do business. Barcoding, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and the Internet have enabled us to improve the methods we use to track our vehicles, verify tape movement and report data to our customers.
However, the fundamentals remain the same:
• Keep each customer’s media in a dedicated location, segregated from others
• File each customer’s tapes in logical order at all times
• Account for each day’s activity in that same day
• Provide customers with access to a stable, knowledgeable and well-trained
operations staff at all times, not just Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm
• Offer “true” high-security, underground facilities rather than above ground warehouses
• Keep all transportation and handling in-house, utilizing only VRI bonded employees
