Tape Library Relocations

VRI has performed hundreds of tape library relocations, ranging from less than 6,000 tapes to more than 150,000 tapes. We have been hired to move tapes within a building and have successfully planned and completed large-scale moves from coast to coast.

Tape Library relocations comprise a critical set of requirements; planning, speed and accuracy. These are all essential components of a successful move. Our experienced Project Managers, Tape Librarians, and Couriers work within this complex framework on a routine basis. Whether we are moving 80,000 tapes from Seattle to Los Angeles or 75,000 tapes from Dallas to New York, it is merely "business as usual" for VRI.

If the move calls for private jets, large transport planes or extensive ground transportation, VRI will complete this project so that you can concentrate on the many other challenges involved in relocating a data center.

Certified Destruction

Now, more than ever, there is a heightened awareness in all aspects of managing and protecting critical corporate data. The timely and proper disposal of expired tape media is just as important as how you handle the current data. VRI offers certified tape and hard drive destruction services to our customers.

Destruction is accomplished by incineration at a licensed waste to energy facility, located in New Jersey. This involves controlled mass burning, and the media is mixed with other disposable materials. VRI is licensed by the DEP to transport the media directly to the incineration site.

Media marked for destruction is managed with its own unique set of procedures and chain-of-custody requirements by VRI. Each destruction process is managed according to the customer’s requirements and all destruction reporting is tailored to each customer’s needs. VRI issues a Certificate of Destruction upon completion of the destruction.

Russ Bassett Tape Racking
VRI utilizes the Russ Bassett high-density Gemtrac racks for a large percentage of our tape storage. These racks offer a superb combination of high-density storage, durability, flexibility and protection.

Turtle Cases
Many of our customers use Turtle Cases for much, if not all, of their transport needs. With the growth of distributed environments and the continuing move towards higher and higher tape densities, these cases are ideal for today’s smaller tape shipments. Turtle cases are media specific, which means that your media is securely packed for safe transport and/or storage.

Barcode Tape Labels
We supply a variety of barcoded labels to our customers. There are labels for virtually all types of tape media: reels, cartridges, optical discs, etc. By barcoding your media, you can realize significant advantages in how you inventory and track your tapes. This allows you to interface with VRI's online Extranet inventory system.
